There is an ALTERNATIVE...

...and last night on BBC Question Time a supporter of the PCS campaign challenged the panel over the £120 billion pounds a year lost through uncollected, avoided and evaded taxation by the top companies and the top percentile of earners (i.e. non in PAYE) .

Quick as a flash ConDem apologist and policy shifter Simon Hughes rallied to his leader/s cause by stating that the government intends to do just that. He was proud to state that they are going to put £1 billion pounds into raising, wait for it... £7 billion pounds.

So lets get this into perspective, we are facing massive cuts in the public sector with knock on effects to the private... and all the ConDems can do with lost, evaded and avoided taxation is to attempt to re-coup around 5% of the £120 billion pounds. Well , that about covers potential errors with the PAYE system... so the rich get off... yet again, and to the tune of £113 billion. No surprise there then.

Reminds me of the much vaunted ConDem levy on the bankers... of £2 billion... or somewhat less than 2% of the amount we have loaned them at 0.5% interest, and upon which we are paying interest of around 3.6% for the priviledge; meanwhile they lend the balance at up to 19% or more to credit card companies and premiership football clubs raking in a cool £100 billion plus in profit! You could make this up, but people would not believe it.
