Hundreds of trade unionists from across the public sector in Blackpool and the Fylde joined together in protest at the councils proposed spending cuts last night.Veterans Agency National Branch was represented by branch officers and ordinary members who showed solidarity with Unison members from the councils many thousands of staff facing redundancy in the coming months. Emily Kelly of the PCS NEC spoke alongside Cllr Simon Blackburn on the town hall steps.
After the rally, 65 council staff were allowed to enter the council chamber to listen to the spending cuts debate, as reported here.
